Three Homeruns Make for Two Grizzly Victories at Labette

Butler Softball defeated Labette in both of their doubleheader road games Tuesday. The first was an 11-1 run-rule victory and the second was a 4-1 victory.

Game One

Butler batters showed out in the run-rule victory against the Labette Cardinals to begin the eight game week ahead. Ryanna Valdivia hit a two-run bomb over the fence in right center in the second inning, followed by another two-run homer from Cady Dickey in the fifth.

Valdivia had the team's highest RBI count in with four, followed by Cady Dickey with two, and Reece Briggs, JaKeyla McDaniel, and Amayiah Hall with one each. Brionna Woods joined the hitting action with a triple in the third inning.

Butler baserunners showed off their speed as JaKeyla McDaniel and Kaylah Newman each tallied three stolen bases and Amayiah Hall tallied two.

Allyson Montgomery claims the win in her complete game as she faced 26 batters in five innings with eleven strikeouts, only allowing one hit and one run.

Game Two

The second game was slow to start as the first four innings were scoreless for both teams. The Grizzlies were first on the scoreboard as Amayiah Hall came home on a throwing error after stealing third base.

Cady Dickey was the star of the show in game two as she homered for her second time of the day driving in two runs.

Emma Koeneke will claim the win as she faced 24 batters in six innings of work, with only one run on five hits with five strikeouts. Lena Walter takes the save with one inning of work and one strikeout.

Butler softball is now 6-4 on the season and 2-0 in conference as they look to add to the wins column hosting the Pratt Beavers in their home opener tomorrow (Wednesday) at East Park in ElDorado. The Grizzlies will then travel to Hutchinson Saturday to take on the Blue Devils before hosting Crowder College on Sunday.
