Manabe Nets United Soccer Coaches NJCAA All-American Honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Butler soccer freshman midfielder Sakiko Manabe was named an NJCAA All-American by the United Soccer Coaches the organization announced on Wednesday.

There were 100 Junior College All-Americans, 52 men and 48 women. Student-athletes on this year's United Soccer Coaches Junior College All-America Teams will be recognized for their accomplishments at the United Soccer Coaches All-America Ceremony & Reception on Saturday, Jan., 13, 2024 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California, in conjunction with the United Soccer Coaches Convention.

Manabe, a freshman from Tanaba, Japan, added this award after previously being named first team All-KJCCC. She was the lone Grizzly to land on the first team this season.

She led Butler in goals scored (10), shots on goal (26) and points (22) as she played and started in all 21 games on the season. Manabe was the main force for the Grizzlies offensive attack throughout the year. Her 10 goals were tied for 10th most in the KJCCC. She finished the year with three multi-goal games with two in a 4-0 win over No. 5 Monroe as well as two in back-to-back games in wins over region champion #16 Cowley and Garden City. She also netted a goal in Butler's Region VI quarterfinal win at Hutchinson on Oct. 27.
