Butler Volleyball picked first in preseason coaches’ poll

COLBY, Kansas – High expectations await Butler volleyball this season according to the KJCCC coaches.

The KJCCC released its predicted order of finish on Thursday, and the league's coaches voted Butler to finish in first in the preseason poll.

The Grizzlies are coming off an appearance in the region VI championship a season ago, a season that saw them compile a 14-2 conference record and 25-12 overall record. Head coach Lisa Lechtenberg enters her sixth season at the helm in 2023, holding a 109-53 career record at Butler.

Hutchinson was picked second and the 2022 Region VI tournament champions, Seward, were picked third. 

Butler kicks off its season in Council Bluffs, Iowa, at the Reiver Classic hosted by Iowa Western. The first match of the season comes on Thursday, August 17 vs. Monroe Community College. The Grizzlies will play four matches over the weekend. The first home match of the season is September 2 as Pratt visits the Power Plant with a 2 p.m. start time.
