Volleyball Duo earns KJCCC player of the week honors

COLBY, Kan. – Butler middle blocker Sydney Lentz and setter Anja Milosevic were honored as KJCCC offensive player of the week and setter of the week, respectively, on Tuesday by KJCCC league officials.

The Grizzlies went 2-0 on the week with big wins over conference rivals Hutchinson and Garden City.

Lentz, a sophomore Wichita native, was dominant at the net in the win at Hutchinson. She tallied 15 kills on .303 hitting as well as four blocks in the Grizzlies 3-2 win. In the sweep of Garden City at home on Saturday, Lentz finished with eight kills on .421 hitting and another four blocks at the net.

On the season, Lentz leads the Grizzlies with 59 total blocks, 20 more than the next closest Grizzly. She sits second on the team with 117 kills, 2.17 per set. She averages 1.09 blocks per set which is good for fifth most in the KJCCC.

Milosevic, a Belgrade, Serbia, native and true freshman played in all eight sets for the Grizzlies on her way to posting back-to-back double-doubles. In the five set win over the Blue Dragons Milosevic tallied 41 assists and 19 digs to go with three service aces. The 19 digs were a season-high. In the Grizzlies three set sweep of Garden City Milosevic totaled 33 assists and 10 digs. On the week she averaged 11 assists per set. She leads the Grizzlies this season with 420 assists, 26 aces and is second o n the team with 135 digs.
