Butler Athletes of the Week - Jan. 6, 2014

Butler’s Larry Fitzgerald and Te’era Williams have been named SpringHill Suites Athletes of the Week for Jan. 6, 2014.

Larry Fitzgerald led the Grizzlies to two wins this past weekend in the Seward Classic in Liberal, Kan. He recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and had 12 rebounds in Butler’s 79-74 win over On Point Academy on Friday. Saturday in Butler’s 89-52 win over Murray State (Okla.), he led the Grizzlies making five of six shots from downtown finishing with 21 points

Fitzgerald, a 6-3 sophomore guard from Milwaukee, WI is second on the team in scoring averaging 12.6 points per game while averaging 4.5 rebounds per game. Fitzgerald leads Butler in three point shooting percentage shooting 54.8 percent from long distance on the season.

Butler will next play in Pratt on Wednesday Jan. 8, at 8 p.m. The Grizzlies won their last meeting at the Power Plant defeating the Beavers 83-71.

Te’era Williams is continuing her dominant season recording 19 points with five rebounds and made 10 of her 11 free throws in Butler’s 80-58 road win over Crowder College last Thursday. It is the second time Butler has defeated Crowder College this season by winning their last meeting 84-54 back in November at the Power Plant.

Williams, a 5-11 sophomore forward out of Oklahoma City, OK leads the 16-1 Grizzlies in scoring and rebounding averaging a double-double with 21.2 points per game and 10.2 rebounds per game. She is second on the team shooting 60.7 percent from the floor.

The Grizzlies will next go on the road to Pratt on Wednesday, Jan. 8, at 6 p.m. Butler won the last meeting 72-53 at home on Nov. 20, 2013.
