Baseball sweeps season series from Allen with 8-1 win

The Butler baseball team finished a seven-game stretch of non-conference games with a 5-2 record after an 8-1 home win over Allen County on Wednesday at McDonald Stadium.

Butler sweeps the season series with Allen County, winning the two games by a combined score of 30-5.

Butler shut out Allen for eight innings before the Red Devils scored their only run with two outs in the ninth inning. Gabe Cook started and threw two scoreless innings. Scott Paramore threw four scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while striking out four Red Devils to earn the win. Robert Calvano threw the final three innings to earn the save.

Offensively, Cooper Biggers paced the Butler attack, going 3-4 with a solo home run. Levi Parker was 2-4 while Baylor Parker drove in two runs.

Butler improves to 18-16 on the season and has won 11 of its last 15 games. The Grizzlies move back into conference action on Friday and Saturday with a four-game series at Barton County.
