Butler Baseball receiving votes in NJCAA Top 20 Poll

For the first time since the 2018 season, the Butler Baseball team is receiving votes in the Division I NJCAA Baseball National Poll.

"We are happy to be recognized but it is way too early in the year to focus on the rankings," said head coach BJ McVay.

The Grizzlies have chalked up a 4-0 record this season and will look to add more to the win column by the end of the week. Weather permitting, Butler is scheduled to face No. 5 Cowley on Thursday in Edmond, OK which will be their toughest game to date early in the season. They will also play Redlands on Thursday afternoon and take on Northeastern Oklahoma A&M on Friday.

Coming of a Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference West title a season ago, the Grizzlies have high hopes to remain a top contender to come out of the KJCCC West this year.

"We have a lot of new guys this year and a lot of baseball to play," commented McVay. "We just need to continue to improve each day and be playing our best baseball late in the season."

In 2007, the Grizzlies were ranked as high as No. 7 in the country but have not been inside the NJCAA Top 20 since that season with the last one on April 18, 2007, a streak that coach McVay and the team hope to end this year.
