Eight Homeruns in Two Games for Two Victories

Butler bats came alive in the first two games of the four game home series with Des Moines Area Community College on Friday. The Grizzlies defeated the Bears 10-2 in the seven ining first game of the day, followed by a 9-6 victory in the second.

Justin Hudson had an incredible three homeruns on the day, two in the first game and another in the second. Garrett Fager joined him with two homeruns in game two, along with Alan Benhardt, Brock Lummus, and Hayden Dyer each with one. 

Grizzlies were impressive on the mound as Izack Tiger claimed the win in game one and Caden Kickhaefer claimed the win for game two. Tiger faced 21 batters in 5 innings of work giving up three hits, and two runs with six strikeouts. Game one also pitching appearances by Denton Whiteside and Garett Fager. Kickhaefer faced 24 batters in five and one third innings of work allowing five runs, four earned, on four hits with four strikeouts. Preston Giltner and Jake Shaults joined game two in relief.

Butler Baseball improves their record to 6-6 on the season. The Grizzlies are back in action again tomorrow (Saturday March 4th) with the DMACC Bears in two more games at 1 and 3 p.m.
