Grizzlies Outslugged by Coffeyville in Midweek Action

EL DORADO, Kan. – Butler baseball suffered a midweek defeat, 14-11, to the Coffeyville Red Ravens on Tuesday afternoon at McDonald Stadium.

The Grizzlies (10-9) suffered their second loss of the season to the Red Ravens (8-10), previously losing 16-2 to the Red Ravens in Edmond, OK, on Feb. 14th.

Butler led 4-0 after the first and 7-3 after the second before Coffeyville had a five run third, taking an 8-7 lead. They did not trail again.

Coffeyville finished with 17 hits to Butler's 14 while the Grizzlies also aided the Red Ravens attack with five errors.

The Grizzlies used six pitchers in the game with the final three throwing 3.1 scoreless innings. Caden Hinther (L, 0-2) suffered his second loss as he got the start and allowed eight runs (seven earned) across 2.2 innings. Coffeyville used seven pitchers, striking out 11 total and walking eight.

Five Grizzlies had multi-hit games with CJ Reid leading the way totaling three hits, a walk and a run driven in. Justin Hudson paced the Grizzlies with four RBI. He hit a two run home run in the bottom of the second, is eighth of the year.

Butler resumes conference play on Thursday, hosting Hutchinson in a doubleheader at McDonald Stadium at 1/3:30 p.m.
