Butler Softball Sweeps Pratt in Home Opener Series

The Grizzlies were dominate in their double header at East Park Wednesday as they defeated the Beavers 7-1 in game one and 19-0 in a run rule victory game two.

Game 1

Butler pitchers were dominant on the mound in the first game of the double header. Starter Allyson Montgomery pitched 4 innings facing 16 batters while giving up no hits and taking down seven by strikeout, but walking two batters, which allowed for the Beaver's only run of the game. Montgomery will claim the win putting her at 5-1 for the season. Lean Walter came in relief and pitched three innings giving up no hits and no runs, while striking out four and only walking one. Lena Walter claims her second save of the season and the duo of Walter and Montgomery combine for a no hitter.

Butler batters were comfortable at the plate as JaKeyla McDaniel, Cady Dickey, Kendyl Anderson, Reece Briggs, and ally Hageman all batted runners in to score. Ryanna Valdivia batted in two runs.

Game 2

Grizzly bats came alive in the second game of the day, driving in nineteen runs to the Beaver's stark zero. Butler did the most of their damage in the first inning scoring eleven runs. Nine Grizzlies claim RBI's including Ryanna Valdivia with four, Brianna Acosta with three, JaKeyla McDaniel, Reece Briggs, and Aly Hageman with two and Kaylah Newman and Allyson Montgomery with one.

Emma Koeneke claims the win on the mound bringing her season record to 3-3 as she pitched three innings, facing eleven Beaver batters while striking out four and giving up only one hit. Ariel Matula joined in relief with the same statistics as Koeneke ( one hit, four strikeouts, one walk) in only two innings of work.

The Grizzlies will travel to Hutchinson Saturday to face the conference rival Blue Devils before returning home Sunday to face Crowder College at East Park in Eldorado.
