Allyson Montgomery Earns National Pitcher of the Week Honors

Butler Softball's Allyson Montgomery has been named the NJCAA Division I Softball Pitcher of the Week for week seven.

Allyson's biggest accolade of the week was setting a new program record for strikeouts per game at eighteen, after tying the previous record of seventeen earlier this season. The sophomore pitcher from Goddard, Kansas had an incredible week in the circle for the Grizzlies in their four conference games at East Park. Montgomery made three starts in just two days, throwing fifteen innings and giving up only two runs on eight hits with twenty-six strikeouts. Allyson's most outstanding game was against Dodge City in which she threw a complete game, giving up no runs on only three hits with no walks and an amazing eighteen strikeouts. Allyson is first in the KJCCC in strikeouts this season with 147 and is second in both wins with fifteen, and ERA at 2.21. The Grizzlies' ace also leads the pitching staff in wins innings pitched at 98.0. 

Montgomery is the first Butler Softball player to win a National Player/Pitcher of the Week award in the 2023 season. She has been named KJCCC Pitcher of the Week twice this season the first being in week six and now again in week ten.
