Dickey, Odle Sweep KJCCC Weekly Awards for Butler Softball

Four games into the season and the Butler softball program is already winning awards.

Sophomore catcher Cady Dickey was named the KJCCC Player of the Week and freshman pitcher Chloe Odle was named the KJCCC Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Tuesday as Butler swept the weekly awards.

Dickey, a sophomore from Arkansas City, was a force in Butler's lineup as they played four games in Colorado, starting the season 4-0. In 14 at bats Dickey hit .571 and slugged 1.143 as she posted eight hits, eight RBI, two home runs and two doubles. She drove in two runs in each of the four games. In the first game of the doubleheader with Otero, Dickey had three hits and two RBI. She was also the catcher for Butler pitcher Chloe Odle who punched out 14 as Dickey totaled 15 putouts behind the plate. She had 16 total bases in the four games in Colorado.

Odle, a freshman out of Beloit, was impressive in her first two collegiate starts. She picked up wins in both as Butler got out to a 4-0 record in their first competition this season in La Junta, Colo. In her first start she tossed 3.0 innings allowing no runs or hits, striking out five and walking two as Butler won 9-0 over NJC. In her second start, the Beloit native struck out 14, walking just two. She allowed one earned run on six hits as Butler claimed a 10-2 victory over Otero. Odle has 19 strikeouts to four walks this season as well as allowing just one earned run in 9.0 innings, good for a 0.78 ERA.

The Grizzlies return to action on Friday, Feb. 16th, as they take on Monroe College and Angelina College in Lufkin, Texas.
