Softball Secures Sweep of Pratt on the Road

PRATT, Kan. – Butler softball traveled to Pratt and came away with two wins at Angood Field at Lemon Park.

The No. 18 Grizzlies (15-3, 7-1 KJCCC) won a close game over the Beavers (5-11, 1-5) in the first game, 4-1. The second game saw Butler's offense open up with a 12-2 five inning run-rule win.

Butler now turns its attention to a home doubleheader with Indian Hills on Monday with first pitch at 11 a.m. from East Park.

Game 1: Butler 4, Pratt 1

Cheyenne Handsaker (W, 5-1) threw a complete game, allowing a lone run in 7.0 innings, striking out nine and walking four.

Grizzly shortstop Aly Hageman had two hits and drove in two runs, slugging a double and triple. Chloe Cardona drove in another run for Butler on an RBI single. The Grizzlies pieced together 10 hits and scored a run in the first, two in the fifth and one more in the seventh to come away with the win.

Four different Grizzlies had a stolen base.

Game 2: Butler 12, Pratt 2 (5 inn.)

12 runs on 12 hits was enough to give Butler a run-rule win in five innings over Pratt in game two.

Hageman delivered once again with three hits and three RBI as well as two runs scored. Cady Dickey added two hits and two RBI and Cardona also drove in two runs. Kyrsten Moran had two walks, a hit and scored three runs to go with two stolen bases.

Chloe Odle got the start and tossed a complete game, going 5.0 innings allowing two runs on eight hits, walking none and striking out four.

The Grizzlies used big innings in the win plating three in the first, four in the fourth and five in the fifth.
