Grizzlies Trade Run Rules With Hutchinson

EL DORADO, Kan. – The top two teams in the KJCCC met at East Park on Monday afternoon and split a pair of games with Butler winning the first and Hutchinson the second.

Once again, the Grizzlies (20-6) looked invincible in one game (8-0 game 1 win) and then did not live up to expectations in another (11-3 game 2 loss).

The Grizzlies continue KJCCC play on Wednesday, traveling to Colby for a set beginning at 1 p.m. CT.

Game 1: Butler 8, Hutchinson 0 (5 inn.)

Cheyenne Handsaker (W, 9-2) tossed a complete game shutout, striking out four and walking one allowing six hits.

Butler jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back. Cady Dickey had a two-run single and Alivia Darbe hit a two-run single to center field in the first.

Darbe, Dickey and Chloe Cardona each had three hits with Darbe and Dickey each driving in three runs.

Butler scored one run each in the second through fifth innings using the final run to force the eight-run run rule.

Game 2: Hutchinson 11, Butler 3 (5 inn.)

Hutchinson flipped the script in the second game, winning 11-3 over the Grizzlies in five innings.

The Blue Dragons plated five runs in the second and three in the third to jump out to a 8-1 lead.

Cady Dickey singled up the middle to score Chloe Cardona for Butler in the first inning for the first run of the game.

Hutchison's Bailey Backhaus finished with four hits and two RBI while Annie Kealey drove in four runs.

Butler's Kyrsten Moran was the only Grizzly with a multi-hit game, finishing with two.

Chloe Odle (L, 7-4) suffered the loss making it just 1,1 innings allowing five runs (two earned) on four hits. Addy Ewing threw the final 3.2 innings allowing six runs on seven hits.
