Butler women shut down Murray State in 81-45 home win

The Butler women continued to roll over non-conference opponents at home, this time beating Murray State (Okla.) by an 81-45 score at the Power Plant on Wednesday.

Butler started slowly, leading just 12-7 in the early going. The Grizzlies would turn up the defensive pressure, however, leading to an 8-0 run. Butler would go into the half leading 34-16, holding the Aggies to just seven made field goals in the first half.

Butler continued to pull away in the second half. A pair of free throws by Samantha Satterlee put Butler up 39-18 with 17:42 to play and the lead topped 30 points when a Jamillah Bonner layup made the score 50-19 with 14:15 to go in the game.

Bonner would lead Butler in scoring with 26 points, equaling her season high scored in a home win over Cowley County on Nov. 3. For the second time this week, she just missed a double-double with nine rebounds. Ashlee Ivy scored 13 and Samantha Satterlee scored 12 points.

The Grizzlies improve to 10-2 on the season with the win. Butler will continue its homestand with a game Saturday against Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa in the Power Plant. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
