Ivy named to play in NJCAA All-Star Game

Butler forward Ashlee Ivy was recently named to participate in the fifth annual NJCAA Coaches Association All-Star weekend in Niceville, Fla.

Ivy has been selected as one of the top 40 returning players in the country and will play in the All-Star weekend held in July. The 40 players will be broken into four teams and each team will play twice during the weekend event. Numerous NCAA Division I and Division II coaches will be in attendance to take in the event as well.

"We are very excited for Ashlee to earn such an honor," said Butler head women's basketball coach Mike Helmer. "I know we are somewhat biased, but we believe that she is one of the top players in the country. It's nice for other people to recognize her as such."

Ivy, a 6'0 Wichita product, just finished her freshman year at Butler, where she averaged 10.6 points and 5.9 rebounds per game while shooting 49 percent from the field and 33 percent from three-point range. In addition, Ivy was named to the Jayhawk West All-Conference team as well as the All-Region VI team.

Ivy joints former teammate Jamillah Bonner as the only two Grizzlies to ever play in the NJCAA All-Star event.
