Butler women roll over Redlands in 96-53 home victory

The Butler women dominated Redlands on both sides of the court in a 96-53 home victory on Monday at the Power Plant.

Te'era Williams led the Grizzlies (7-1 overall) with 29 points and 13 rebounds, while Teanna Reid added 18 points. Ashley Gibson finished with 12 points and eight rebounds.

Redlands scored the opening basket of the game before the Grizzlies went on a 24-0 run, holding the Cougars without a basket for over seven minutes. Te'era Williams scored 11 points during the run, while Teanna Reid added nine. Redlands broke the run with a pair of free throws, but went another 1:15 before hitting a field goal.

Leading 50-25 at halftime, Butler refused to lay off the accelerator as the Grizzlies went on a 10-2 run to open the half. Butler would led by as many as 48 points in the contest, taking a 94-46 lead with 3:42 remaining in the contest. The Grizzlies made a key 30-13 run beginning at the 15:14 mark of the second half. The run included a pair of 8-0 runs during an 11-minute stretch as Butler put away Redlands.

Butler shot just under 51 percent (39-of-77) from the field, while Redlands was limited to just 31 percent (17-of-55). The Grizzlies shot 17-of-19 from the free-throw line and outrebounded Redlands by a 52-24 margin.

The Butler women will next host Pratt at home on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
