Butler's Williams earns NJCAA All-American honors

Butler sophomore Te'era Williams was named to the NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball All-American team on Thursday, becoming the first Grizzly in the program's history to earn the honor.

Williams, who received second-team honors, averaged 19.4 points and 9.9 rebounds per game while leading the Grizzlies (34-3) to a conference championship and its first-ever appearance in the NJCAA National Tournament.

Williams, a 5-11 forward from Oklahoma City, Okla., started 35 of 36 games and lead the team in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage (58.5 percent) and blocks (34). Williams also recorded 15 double-doubles and scored in double figures in 33 of the 35 games she played in. She eclipsed the 30-point barrier three times, including a 34-point performance on Nov. 15 against Cloud County.

The All-American honor this season is just one of many for Williams, who also earned first-team Region VI and All-Conference honors. She was also named to the All-Tournament teams for teh NJCAA National Tournament and the Region VI Tournament.
