The Butler women set the record for most points in a game in program history, crushing Central Nebraska 116-56 on Tuesday night in the Power Plant.

The 116 points is one more than the previous best of 115 scored two years ago at St. Gregory's (Okla.). It is the third largest margin of victory ever at home under head coach Mike Helmer. It is also the second time this season Butler has hit the century mark as Butler beat Allen County 105-50 a week earlier.

Butler broke out early, pushing the lead into double digits on a 3-pointer by Jurnee Reid with 15:05 left in the first half that made the score 17-6. Ashley Gibson scored eight straight points during a stretch in the second half as Butler pushed the lead to 39-17 with 6:57 to play. Kynadi Johnson hit a 3-pointer just before the buzzer to put Butler up 54-30 at the break.

The Grizzlies then put up 62 points in the second half. Ashlyn McBride's 3-pointer with 4:16 to play put Butler at 100 points. McBride hit another 3-pointer with 30 seconds to play that gave Butler the record-setting 116th point.

Ashley Gibson led Butler with 27 points while Kynadi Johnson had a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Nia Roberts scored 15 points off the bench while Katie Palmer had 11 and Jurnee Reid had 10.

Butler shot 59 percent from the floor (43-of-73) including 53 percent from 3-point range (10-of-19). Central Nebraska was held to just 28 percent shooting (16-of-58). The Grizzlies also outrebounded the Raiders 52-27.

The Butler women are now 8-2 on the season and will play two games this weekend at the Barton Classic in Great Bend, facing Independence on Friday and Otero (Colo.) on Saturday, with both games starting at 1 p.m.
