EL DORADO, Kan. – For the third straight week, the Butler women's basketball team is slotting in at No. 3 in the NJCAA D1 Women's Basketball Poll, released Monday.
Butler is 12-0 overall and 6-0 in KJCCC play following a 71-69 win over No. 14 Dodge City on Saturday. They are tied atop the standings with Hutchinson who is also 12-0, 6-0 in league pay. The win over Dodge City was the Grizzlies second win over a nationally ranked opponent after previously taking down then-No. 21 Coffeyville on the road on Nov. 29.
Previous rankings for Butler this season include No. 7 in the preseason poll, No. 6 in weeks one and two and then No. 3 from there on out.
The Grizzlies sit behind No. 1 Northwest Florida State (12-0) and No. 2 Collin Community College (11-0). Northwest Florida State has held the No. 1 spot dating back to the preseason poll while Collin CC opened the season at No. 8, then moving to No. 5 in week two and No. 2 following that.
Other KJCCC teams in the week five poll are Hutchinson (No. 11), Dodge City (No. 14) and Coffeyville (No. 23).
Butler is off for winter break, with its next game scheduled for January 3, 2024, at the Power Plant. It will be a showdown with the leagues top two teams in the standings as No. 11 Hutchinson comes to town for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff on Wednesday.
