Grizzlies Split with KCK in Home Opener Series Wednesday

The Butler Grizzlies split a doubleheader with the Kansas City Kansas Blue Devils at McDonald Stadium on Wednesday to begin the series. The Grizzlies lost he first game 8-3 in seven innings before winning the second, 14-7

Game 1

Izack Tiger pitched five innings for the Grizzlies followed by two from Tate Rico in the seven-inning game. Tiger had 8 strikeouts, while only giving up 3 hits. 

The Grizzlies scored 3 runs off 4 hits with solo home runs from both Hayden Dyer and Brock Lummus.

Game 2

Game two of the day proceeded in much more exciting fashion as the Grizzlies came out victorious. Alan Benhardt and Justin Hudson both showed up in a major way with 3 RBI's each, followed by Hayden Dyer and Brock Lummus with two, and Josh Holmes and Cole Murrell with one. Both Alan Benhardt and Cole Murrel homered in the second game, making the Butler home run tally four on the day.

Caden Kickhaefer started on the mound for the Grizzlies pitching five innings with five strikeouts while giving up four hits and only one run. 

Butler Baseball is now 3-5 on the season and will be back in action this Saturday to finish the series with KCK in Kansas City at noon and 2 p.m.
