Butler sweeps Highland in front of big home crowd

In front of a near sellout crowd on Monday night, the Butler volleyball team quickly swept past Highland on "Pack the Power Plant" night, which was presented by The Villas.

Butler won the first set 25-9. In the second set, Highland scored the first two points before the Grizzlies pulled off 14 points in a row on their way to a 25-13 win. The Grizzlies then easily won the third set 25-13 to win the match.

Samantha Jernigan got a start at the middle blocker position and made the most of it with 11 kills and seven blocks. Payton White had five kills and three blocks. Jordan Hoheisel had four kills and three blocks while and Hanna Flaming had four kills and two blocks.

Hope Harsh had 18 assists with two aces while Aimee Wood had 11 digs and one ace.

Butler improves to 28-6 on the season and 7-3 in Jayhawk East Conference action. The Grizzlies, who are now 8-0 at home this season, look to finish the season undefeated in the Power Plant when they host Hesston on Wednesday. It will be the final home match of the season and will also be recognition night for the team's 10 sophomores.
