Flaming receives NJCAA All-American second team honors

Butler sophomore outside hitter Hanna Flaming was recently named to the NJCAA Division II All-American volleyball team.

The Benton, Kan., native is the fourth Grizzly to receive NJCAA All-American honors, along with Crystal Blue (2008), Demetria Williams (2009) and Brittany Brown (2010).

"I am honored to be on the same list as the former Butler All-Americans," said Flaming. "It reminds me that my work is paying off and is motivation to continue to work hard at the next level."

Flaming finished her sophomore season with 292 kills and hit .274 with 223 digs and 55 blocks.

"Hanna was very consistent and made a big improvement over her first year," said Butler head coach Rick Younger. "Her hitting percentage was about 60 points higher and with a great court awareness, it made for a great sophomore season."

Along with All-American honors, Flaming was named to the KJCCC Division II All-Conference first team and the Region VI District M first team.
