Benning posts double-double in Grizzlies 3-0 sweep over Pratt.

The Butler volleyball team improved to 8-5 on the year and 3-3 in KJCCC play after a 3-0 sweep over the Pratt Beavers Thursday night in the Power Plant.

The Grizzlies won in straight sets, but it wasn't necessarily an easy task at the Beavers put up a good fight. Butler had the momentum from the jump as they took the first set out the gate 25-12.

Set two went into extra points as Butler skated by with a 27-25 win. Butler had a 24-22 lead, but Pratt battled and tied it up at 24 and then 25. A double block from Kayli Duncan and Mallory Cowman would end the set in favor of the Grizzlies, 27-25.

The Grizzlies trailed early in set three but would come alive and finished the set 25-20 to take the sweep, making it the second time this season the Grizzlies have swept the Beavers. 

Jaryn Benning led the way posting a double-double of 10 kills and 12 digs with a .292 hitting %. She also had three blocks. Kayli Duncan finished the night with eight kills and three blocks. Jessie Nibarger had a career high five serving aces in the match to go along with her 15 assists and six digs. 

NEXT UP: Butler (8-5, 3-3) will head to Dodge City (3-8, 3-4) on Friday, February 26th to face the Conquistadors in a 5:30pm first serve from the Student Activity Center in Dodge City, KS.

NOTES: Seven of the Grizzlies eight wins have been 3-0…Completed season sweep of Pratt winning the first match 3-0 in the season opener on January 25…Had 14 blocks in the match which is a season high.
