Mya Mayberry and Jaden Rose
Butler softball infielder Claire Lopez and men’s basketball forward Emeka Opurum have been selected as the White Eagle Credit Union Athletes of the Week for the week of March 3rd through March 10th, 2025.
Mya Mayberry (Women’s Basketball)
Mayberry, a freshman from Wichita, had two strong performances in the Region 6 Tournament for the Grizzlies. Mayberry played strong defense and facilitated the ball well helping Butler defeat Cowley at the Power Plant in the quarterfinals and narrowly fall to the top seeded Dodge City Conquistadors in Hays in the semifinals. In the win over Cowley, Mayberry finished with eight points, seven rebounds and five assists, stuffing the stat sheet. In the loss to Dodge, Mayberry tallied 11 points, seven rebounds and four assists. She was named to the Region 6 All-Tournament Team.
Jaden Rose (Baseball)
Rose, a freshman from Overland Park, Kan., helped the Grizzlies to a 4-1 week with a win over Coffeyville and a 3-1 series win over the Pratt Beavers. Rose led Butler with 10 RBI as he hit four home runs, finishing 7-18 (.389) on the week. Rose slugged 1.111 and had an on-base percentage of .476 in the four games. Rose registered three multi-hit games on the week, scoring six runs. In the win over the Red Ravens he finished 2-5 driving in four runs with a grand slam. Rose was 3-4 with three RBI and two home runs in game two with Pratt and followed that up with a 2-4 performance with three RBI in the series finale.
