Golden Eagles, Grizzlies play to 2-2 draw

CHEYENNE, WY - The No. 7 ranked Laramie County Community College Golden Eagles (4-0-1) fought to a 2-2 draw against the No. 13 ranked Butler Grizzlies (2-3-1) on Sunday morning.

Butler took early control of the match, keeping possession in the first ten minutes before the Golden Eagles got a foothold in the game.

LCCC struck first when Jenaya Brown (Edmonton, Alberta) tapped in her saved penalty on a rebound, giving the Golden Eagles a 1-0 lead in the 30th minute. 

Butler answered quickly with a penalty of their own, tying the game at 1-1 in the 33rd minute.

Both teams scored off own goals in the second half as the Golden Eagles took a 2-1 lead in the 55th minute but Butler tied the game up in the 76th.

The Golden Eagles controlled the first overtime period but couldn't score a winner, hanging on in the second overtime period for the 2-2 draw.

The Golden Eagles head to Scottsbluff, Neb. on Wednesday to face Western Nebraska at 2:00 pm.
