VOLLEYBALL STUMBLES AT HIGHLAND TRIANGULAR

Highland, KS – No. 15 Indian Hills Volleyball suffered a pair of losses at the Highland Triangular on Friday, falling 3-1 to host Highland Community College (KS) and 3-0 to No. 7 Butler Community College. The Warriors drop to 14-8 overall on the year.

The Warriors opened up the day against Highland, but dropped their first two sets, 27-25 and 25-19, before rallying to take the third set 27-25. Highland rebounded with a 25-22 fourth set victory to earn the match win. The Warriors followed up its loss to take on Butler, Indian Hills' 10th ranked opponent of the season. The Grizzlies swept all three sets, 25-21, 25-13, and 25-13.

Sophomore Jarolin de los Santos (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/Luis Munoz Rivera) led the Warriors against Highland with 12 kills on 18 attempts for a .556 hitting percentage to go along with a career-high six solo blocks. Brooke Amann (Woodstock, IL/South Dakota State) and Zara McCauley (Mount Barker, South Australia/Heathfield) each recorded 11 kills for Indian Hills. Hennesys Lalane (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/Colegio Luis Munox Rivera) added a team-high 48 assists and 13 digs.

The Warriors struggled to find an offensive rhythm against Butler in the nightcap, hitting just .036 in the loss. Erica Calderon Rosario (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/Salome Urena de Henriquez) posted a team-high eight kills and added five digs. Anja Vranic (Belgrade, Serbia/Sports Gymnasium) recorded 13 digs on the defensive front.

The Warriors return to Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) play on Oct. 13 at Marshalltown Community College.
