Several Grizzlies Find Success in both the Ichabod Invitational and Tyson Invitational

The Butler Grizzlies returned to Topeka, Kansas and Washburn University for the second time in the 2023 Indoor Track season. This time traveling for the Ichabod Invite on Friday.

 It was a strong day for Vionce Olivares as the freshman finished eighth in the 400 meters, coming in with a time of 59.66. Olivares also finished seventh in the 60-meter hurdles prelims, with a time of 9.17. Narrowly behind teammate Joda Campbell, who came in with a time of 9.15.

 Khloi Bird also had a strong performance, with top 20 finishes in both the 1 mile and the 3000-meter race. Bird finished 16th in the mile run with a time of 5:23.91 and 11th in the 3000, coming in at 10:54.79. 

On the men's side, Andrew Leck had a strong showing in the 800 meters, finishing sixth and coming in with a time of 1:55.19. Leck also finished 20th in the mile race with a time of 4:25.18. Meanwhile, Abdelkahim Boukhiar placed sixth in the 600-yard race, with a time of 1:15.00.

Kevin Swindell was Butler's lone representative in the field, and he placed 14th in the pole vault, with a mark of 3.99m.

Tyson Invitational

The Grizzlies also competed at the University of Arkansas and Tyson Invitational on Friday and Saturday. 

Shawn Brown finished 13th in the 200 meters, winning his section and coming in with a time of 21.19. Nazzio John finished 28th, with a time of 21.62. In the 800 meters, Wail Bourahli came in at a time of 1:52.23 and coming in at 15th. Andrew Leck came in at a time of 1:53.52. 

In the 60 meters on Friday, Nazzio John finished fourth in the 60 meters, with a time of 6.65. Trishamie Warner finished 45th in the women's 400, coming in at 57.82.

Next up for the Grizzlies will be the Region VI Championships in Pittsburgh, Kansas next Saturday, February 17th.
