Butler Track and Field Post Big Performances at Fort Hays State’s Alex Francis Classic

Several Grizzlies put up top eight finishes at the Alex Francis Classic hosted by Fort Hays State University and two Butler runners' Broke facility records. 

In the Men's 100 meter dash Grizzlies took first, third and sixth Javari Thomas' time of 10.30 broke the all-conditions facility record, while Andre Morrison came in at 10.47 in third place and Eddy Vu took sixth with a time if 10.66. 

Wail Bourahli's time of 1:50.34 is the new facility record in the Men's 800 meter run as he took gold in the event, followed by Abdel Hakim Boukhiar in sixth with a time of 1:54.39. 

Heidi Grimmett took the gold in the Women's 3000 meter Steeplechase with a time of 12:24.06. Grizzlies also took first and second in the Men's 1500 meter run as Adem Bouldjadj came in first with a sub-four minute time of 3:59.20 followed by Andrew Leck in second with a time of 4:00.38. Butler claimed second, fourth, fifth, and sixth in the Men's 400 meter dash with Avidale Smith claiming silver with a time of 49.02, followed by Nickory Richards in fourth at 49.31, Michael Thomas in fifth at 49.55, and Tomlee Thomas in sixth at 49.56. Star Mpama places third in the Women's 800 meter run coming in at 2:20.92, with Gabriella Gordon coming in at 2:31.16 for an eighth place finish. Tomlee Thomas and Eddy Vu took fifth and sixth in the Men's 200 meter dash, both coming in at 21.69, followed by Michael Thomas in eighth with a time of 21.76. 

In the field Nicholloyd Brown took third in the Men's Triple Jump with a jump of 13.45 meters and fifth in the Men's Long Jump with a jump of 6.14 meters.

The Grizzly Track and Field team will compete at the Region VI Outdoor Championships beginning on Thursday, May 4th hosted by Coffeyville Community College at Memorial Stadium in Coffeyville, KS.
