Butler Track and Field Wraps Up Outdoor Season With Multiple All-American Performances

WEST MONROE, La. – Butler track and field concluded its outdoor season at the 2024 NJCAA D1 Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by the University of Louisiana-Monroe at Brown Stadium from Thursday through Saturday.

The women's squad finished 14th out of 35 teams with 18 points notched while the men placed 16th out of 34 teams with 16 points. Each student-athlete that finished in the top-eight in the finals of an event earned NJCAA All-American honors.

Women's Results

On the women's side, Khloi Bird had an impressive meet. She took third in the 10,000m running it in 36:56.20, came in seventh in the women's 5000m (18:11.45) and was a part of the women's 4x800m relay squad with Star Mpama, Heidi Grimmett and Keniya Dexter that turned in a third-place performance running 9:26.04.

Heidi Grimmett splashes through a puddle in the women's 3000m steeplechase at the NJCAA D1 Outdoor Championships in West Monroe, Ala. Kayveonna Jackson finished eighth in the women's 100m running 16.56. She had a strong prelim run but pulled up in the finals.

The women's 4x400m relay (Mpama, Ala'jah Brooks, Deslyne Cooper, Trishanie Warner) took sixth running 3:46.10.

In the women's 3000m steeplechase, Heidi Grimmett finished 12th (11:57.28) and Valyrie Freeman placed 21st (12:57.10).

Alison Unruh finished 28th in the women's 5000m (20:36.46).

Men's Results

Freshman Nasia Lee registered a fourth-place finish in the men's 110m hurdles running 13.88.

The Butler men had a strong showing in the 100m finals as Jonathan Farinha finished fourth (10.24) and Andre Morrison came in sixth (10.28) in the finals.

Farinha also finished seventh in the men's 200m finals (21.00).

The men's 4x400m relay (Michael Thomas, Eddy Vu, Abdelhakim Boukhiar, Farinha) took eighth running 3:24.18.Jonathan Farinha competes in the men's 100m at the NJCAA D1 Outdoor Championships in West Monroe, La.

William McKinney turned in a ninth-place finish in the men's high jump clearing 6'7 ½.
