Otim Wins Region 6 Title, Grizzlies Win Jayhawk East
WINFIELD, Kan. – The Butler men’s cross country team came away with a strong finish at the 2024 KJCCC/NJCAA Region 6 Cross Country Championships at the Kansas Veterans Home on Friday morning.
WINFIELD, Kan. – The Butler men's cross country team came away with a strong finish at the 2024 KJCCC/NJCAA Region 6 Cross Country Championships at the Kansas Veterans Home on Friday morning.
Freshman Emmanuel Otim continued his dominance, winning the Region 6 championship with a first-place finish and time of 23:40.45 in the men's 8000m. Otim has won four of five races he competed in this season and is set up strongly for the upcoming NJCAA Division 1 Cross Country Championships on Nov. 9th.
The Grizzly men won the Jayhawk East title and finished as the Region 6 runners-up with 51 points behind first-place Hutchinson with 35 points. It marks Butler's second KJCCC East title under head coach Mark Emerson and 16th overall conference title
Butler saw four finish in the top-15 and all eight finishers in the top-50.

After Otim, Sfiso Makolomakwa came in sixth (24:20.35), Itumeleng Ngxabazi finished eighth (24:37.36), Ishmael Acheampong was 13th (25:04.00), Bhekizulu Khumalo came in 23rd (25:56.57), Kamohelo Ramatsebe was 37th (26:55.78), Carson Fouard was 41st (27:22.90) and Ainsley Campbell finished 49th (27:46.27).
