Manabe Adds Another Weekly Award, NJCAA D1 Women’s Soccer National Player of the Week

EL DORADO, Kan.  – After winning KJCCC player of the week earlier this week, Butler soccer freshman midfielder Sakiko Manabe was named the NJCAA D1 Women's Soccer National Player of the Week.

Manabe is the first Grizzly soccer player to be named the national player of the week this season.

Last week she totaled four goals across two games as the Grizzlies defeated #16 Cowley on the road and Garden City at home.

On Wednesday at Cowley, Manabe scored the first and last goals of the game. The last goal turned out to be the game winner in the 87th minute as the Grizzlies escaped Arkansas City with a 3-2 victory. She finished with four shots in the game.

The Grizzlies returned home on Saturday to take on Garden City and Manabe continued to be on fire offensively. She launched two goals in the second half on the way to helping the Grizzlies win 5-1 over the Broncbusters. She finished with four shots in the game.

Manabe leads Butler with eight goals this season.
