Grizzly Soccer Opens Region VI Playoffs at Hutchinson Sunday

EL DORADO, Kan. – With the KJCCC soccer regular season coming to a close on Monday, the Region VI playoff seeds and bracket were announced on Tuesday morning by league officials.

Butler landed the No. 5 seed and will travel to No. 4 seed Hutchinson for the quarterfinal game on Sunday, Oct. 29 at 2:30 p.m.

The winner of the Butler/Hutchinson game will play the winner of No. 1 seed Barton and No. 8 seed Coffeyville on Nov. 2, with the higher seed hosting the semifinal game. The championship game will be played on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 1 p.m. in Overland Park as Johnson County CC will host the championship.

Butler went 0-1-1 vs. the Blue Dragons this season, coming away with a 1-1 draw at the Salthawk Sports Complex in Hutchinson and losing 1-0 at BG Products Veterans Sports Complex.

A season ago the Grizzlies fell in the Region VI championship game to Barton in penalty kicks, but advanced to the NJCAA national tournament for a 10th time. They'll look to win the region this year but must defeat the Blue Dragons on their home turf first. Of note, head coach Adam Hunter has never lost a Region VI first round game in his 16-year Grizzly career.
