Kolbe lands KJCCC Soccer Player of the Week Honors

COLBY, Kan. – Emma Kolbe, a sophomore midfielder for the 18th-ranked Butler soccer team, was named the KJCCC Player of the Week on Tuesday for the final week of regular season action.

Kolbe wins the weekly award from the conference for the first time in her Grizzly career.

She helped the Grizzlies go 2-0 a week ago with a 5-1 win over Seward and a 6-0 win over Dodge City, both at home. Kolbe scored an unassisted goal vs. Seward in the first half to put Butler ahead 2-0. In the Dodge City game, Kolbe totaled three assists, a career-high, as well as scoring a goal of her own in her last home game as a Grizzly.

She joins sophomore goalkeeper Carla Apodaca and freshman midfielder Sakiko Manabe as the Grizzlies in 2023 to win KJCCC Soccer weekly awards.

Buter is now in postseason play with the Grizzlies traveling to Hutchinson on Sunday at 2:30 for a quarterfinal match in the Region VI playoffs.
