EL DORADO, Kan. – A top-15 matchup lived up to the billing on Thursday evening at BG Products Veterans Sports Complex as a late goal from freshman London Ingram helped No. 12 ranked Butler force a 1-1 draw with No. 3 Seminole State.
The Grizzlies (0-0-1) looked as if they were going to suffer a loss in their season opener as the Trojans (0-0-1) held a 1-0 lead with under a minute to play. With 10 seconds remaining, Butler sophomore midfielder Sakiko Manabe found an open Ingram on the left wing and Ingram placed a shot over the Trojan goalie's hands into the back corner of the net with just four seconds remaining on the clock to help the Grizzlies avoid the loss.

Ingram, an El Dorado, Ark., native netted her first collegiate goal in dramatic fashion. The goal went on to be shown as the No. 4 play on SportsCenter's Top-10 Plays Thursday evening.
The Grizzlies nearly tied the game early in the second half after trailing 1-0 heading to halftime. Butler was awarded a penalty kick after the SSC goalie played into a Grizzly. Butler sophomore defender Saki Matsumoto delivered the penalty kick into the net to the left of the goalie and the Grizzlies celebrated as if the game was tied, but the referee called the goal off claiming a Butler player infringed on the penalty box.
Butler was outshot 13-8 and had just four corner kicks to the Trojans' nine. Seminole State grabbed the lead in the first half with 32:40 remaining as Aaliyaiah Durden managed to push a ball in past a scrum of Grizzlies to give SSC the 1-0 lead.
The Grizzlies next take on Fort Hays State in an exhibition on Sunday in Hays at 2 p.m. The next regular season action comes at Coffeyville at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, the first conference game of the season.
Quotables (London Ingram):
"It shows how hard we work in practice. We knew this was going to be a hard-fought game but we knew if we fought to the end we would get a good result."
"Most teams would probably give up in that instance, time running out and you're down 1-0 but we were still here to win. It shows how ready we are for this season."
"They left me open. That's the first thing you don't do. We practiced those shots yesterday and I knew I had an angle so I took the shot."
Quotables (Adam Hunter):
"The last thing I reiterated to the girls in our team meeting was we have to go all the way. The referees will tell you when the game is over, don't let the scoreboard tell you that."
"What a hit. As soon as it came off her foot, Junior (Junior Galvan/assistant coach), and I knew it was in."
"To do it in the closing seconds against the No. 3 team in the country, that'll be a great moment for her (Ingram). I hope her parents were able to watch."
