COLBY, Kan. – Butler soccer sophomore goalkeeper Rylie Schiffelbein was named the KJCCC Goalkeeper of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Schiffelbein, a sophomore from Mulvane, picks up the honor for a second time in three weeks to start the season for the No. 8 ranked Grizzlies.
In a 1-1 draw with No. 12 KCKCC on Wednesday, Schiffelbein recorded a career-high nine saves. She thwarted two Blue Devil breakaways in the second half before seeing KCKCC draw even in the final 75 seconds of the match.
Schiffelbein helped Butler to a 3-2 win over No. 18 Hutchinson at home on Saturday, making eight saves with several highlight stops.
She is now 3-0-2 on the season with a 0.95 GAA (goals-against average) in 380 minutes played. Her 28 saves on the year rank third best in KJCCC Division 1 while her save percentage (.875) is also third best.
Butler returns to action on Wednesday as they travel to Arkansas City to take on No. 14 Cowley at 5 p.m.
