Grizzlies Back in Win Column With Win at Seward

LIBERAL, Kan. – No. 8 ranked Butler soccer got back in the win column with a 2-1 win over Seward at Redskin Field Friday afternoon.
Butler (11-2-4, 11-2-2 KJCCC) scored two second half goals to erase the 1-0 halftime lead that Seward (2-11-4, 1-10-3 KJCCC) held.
The Grizzlies got back in the win column after suffering their second loss of the season at Garden City on Wednesday.
Seward had the wind at their backs in the first half and got on the board first at the 40-minute mark as Eduarda Martins made it 1-0 on an unassisted goal.
The Grizzlies did not score the equalizer until late on the second half at the 75 minute mark. Freshman Wendy Zamudio netted the goal after the ball bounced around off a corner kick. The game winner came courtesy of sophomore Sakiko Manabe in the 83rd minute as s she placed a free kick right over the Saints goalie to make it 2-1.

Butler outshot Seward 11-8 with Manabe leading the Grizzlies with five shots, three on goal.
Brooklin Lynch and Rylie Schiffelbein split time in goal with Schiffelbein working the first half and allowing the goal, finishing with three saves. Lynch played the entire second half and did not see a shot on goal.
Butler returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 23rd, in the regular season finale vs. Dodge City at 6 p.m. The game will also serve as Butler's sophomore day game with 10 sophomores set to be honored.
