Grizzlies See 8 Land All-KJCCC Honors

EL DORADO, Kan. – Butler soccer had eight student athletes selected to All-KJCCC/NJCAA Region 6 teams on Friday.

The Grizzlies had four first team selections, one second team selection and three honorable mention picks.

Sophomores Alayna Runck, Macie Windsor and Sakiko Manabe as well as freshman London Ingram were named to the first team.

Ingram, an El Dorado, Ark., native, led the Grizzlies with 17 goals on the season, ranking third in the league. She had 14 goals in KJCCC play, second best in the league. The freshman forward scored in 13 of Butler's 20 games and had four multi-goal games including a hat trick in a win over No. 11 Cowley.

Runck, a sophomore from Maize, was instrumental for the Grizzlies paying stellar defense all season. She helped Butler allow just 20 goals on the season, second best in the Jayhawk. She also added two goals this season, totaling five points. Her goal vs. No. 14 Cowley was the game winner as Butler won 4-3 on the road in Arkansas City.

Windsor, a native of Essex, England, was another big piece of the Grizzly defense that finished with seven shutouts.

Manabe, a Tanabe, Japan, native facilitated the Grizzly offense all season. Her 12 assists in league play led the conference while she also added three goals and 18 shots on goal. Manabe finished with two game winning goals. She is a two-time All-KJCCC honoree earning a first team nod in 2023 as well as being a USC All-American.

Harwich, England, native Ruby Kilden earned a second team All-KJCCC nod. The midfielder totaled three goals scored ad two assists and brought a physical presence to the field. Last season Kilden was an honorable mention selection.

Freshmen Hayde Flores and Tyesha Nelson as well as sophomore Rylie Schiffelbein were honorable mention selections.

Schiffelbein, a Mulvane native, was Butler's primary goalkeeper all season. Her 11 wins ranked second in the conference among goalkeepers. She totaled 66 saves and forces three shutouts.

Flores, a freshman from Wichita, played a strong midfield for the Grizzlies. She finished with two goals and two assists, adding 17 shots on the season.

Nelson, a freshman from Kingston, Jamiaca, was another strong midfielder for Butler. Her freshman campaign saw her finish with three goals and four assists including a game winning goal in a 4-1 home win over Seward.

The Grizzlies finished the season 13-3-4 and bowed out in the Region 6 Semifinals.
