Grizzlies Compete in Final Tune-up Before Region Meet
Sophomore Elizabeth Hernandez Qualified for NJCAA Nationals in the 5000m
PITTSBURG, Kan. – Butler women's track and field wrapped up its final regular season meet of the indoor season on Friday and Saturday as part of the 10th Annual Russ Jewett Indoor Gorilla Classic at the Robert W. Plaster Center on the campus of Pittsburg State.

The Grizzlies now turn their attention to the Indoor Region 6 Championships which will also be held at the Plaster Center in Pittsburg on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 22nd and 23rd.
Grizzly sophomore distance runner Elizabeth Hernandez posted a national qualifying mark in the 5000m as she placed 10th running it in 17:49.73. Hernandez has qualifying marks in the 5000m as well as the 3000m (10:21.18).
Freshman mid-distance runner ran the best 800m time for a Grizzly woman this season with a mark of 2:29.20.
The women's mile had three finishers in Alison Unruh, Valyrie Freeman and Alexa Marshall.
