Grizzlies compete at KJCCC/Region VI Championships

The Butler cross country teams competed Saturday at the Region VI Championships hosted by Colby Community College at Meadow Lake Country Club in Colby, KS.

The Butler women's team finished 7th in the Region while them men's team came in 8th.

The women finished the race scoring 206 points. Campbell Williams was the highest finisher for the Grizzlies coming in 41st place with a 5K time of 22:51.65. Finishing right behind Williams in 42nd place was sophomore Emily Hankins who ran a 22:52.06. Toby McClure ran a 23:51.27 with a 53rd place finish while Leyni Gomez came in 59th at 24:39.84. Ann Dangha rounded out the scoring finishing 69th with a time of 26:05.67.

The Butler men scored 222 points in the race finishing 8th. Victor Jumo was the highest point scorer running a 25:32.74 8K race good for a 12th place finish. Erick Chavez finished 28th running a 27:13.49 while Valeur Muyoboke came in 61st place with a time of 29:39.65. Zack Trotter finished his 8K race in 30:51.81 good for 74th place and Garin Knight rounded out the Grizzlies scoring coming in 95th place with a time of 35:57.38.

Butler will now prepare for the NJCAA National Championships coming up on November 13th at Pole Green Park in Richmond, VA.
