Butler sets new stadium record in 12-0 win over Illinois Central

Brittney Lawrence scored five goals to earn her third-straight hat trick, leading Butler to a record-setting performance in a 12-0 win over Illinois Central on Sunday at BG Products Veterans Sports Complex.

The 12 goals are the most scored in a single game in the history of the new stadium, which is in its second season of use by Butler soccer. The old record of 11 was reached twice – once again Allen County in the first-ever game at the stadium and again a week ago Sunday in an 11-0 win over Kansas City Kansas Community College.

Butler is now 14-1 all-time at BG Products Veterans Sports Complex.

The Grizzlies didn't take long to get on the board as Maddie Decker scored the first of her two goals just 90 seconds into the contest.

Two minutes later, Brittney Lawrence started her big day by scoring a goal. Lawrence would score three goals in the first half and add two more in the second half. She has scored three or more goals in three consecutive games with three last week against KCKCC and four on Friday vs Otero (Colo.). She has scored 14 goals in the first six games of her collegiate career.

Maddie Decker and Madison Wedekind also had multiple-goal games with two apiece. Morgan Foster, Vanessa Campos and Korrie Raney also had goals for Butler.

Keeper Kelsi Langley posted her third shutout of the season.

Butler is now 5-1 on the season, still 1-0 in Jayhawk Conference play. The Grizzlies will play another non-conference game this Friday when they travel to face Hesston College at 7 p.m.
