Butler finishes undefeated run through KJCCC

The Butler soccer team rolled over Allen County in the final game of the regular season, defeating the Red Devils 10-2 on Thursday afternoon at BG Products Veterans Sports Complex.

The game was supposed to be played Wednesday afternoon in Iola, but heavy rains rendered the field unplayable, forcing the game to be moved to the artificial surface in El Dorado.

Butler finishes conference play undefeated for the second straight year at 13-0 and improves to 18-2 overall. The Grizzlies now head to postseason play, hosting Hesston at noon on Saturday in the Region VI quarterfinals.

Once again, it was Morgan Foster providing plenty of offensive firepower for the Grizzlies. She scored five of Butler's goals, with two in the first half and three in the second half. She has now scored 14 goals in the past two games, coming off a school-record nine goals on Sunday against Cloud. She now has 38 goals, which ties her for the most goals in NJCAA soccer this season with Sam Rowland from Louisburg Colleg.

Brittney Lawrence also continues to be a goal-scoring threat, adding a pair of goals for the Grizzlies. She has 25 goals this year. Kelly Sutton scored her ninth goal of the year and Vanessa Campos added her second goal of the season, while Allen suffered an own goal on a cross from Madison Wedekind that went off a defender and into the goal.
