Grizzlies score three goals under 10-minutes and pick up first win of season over Neosho

Less than ten minutes into the game Wednesday night, the Butler soccer team scored as many goals as they have in their prior two games of the season as they rolled to a 4-0 win over Neosho in their home opener Wednesday night at BG Products Veterans Sports Complex.

Elyssa Salazar got Butler on the board first with a strike from the right side scoring her first goal of the year and the first of the game after the assist from Rachel Wolecki. Minutes later, Marissa Llamas fired a header into the back of the net after a great pass from Natalie Amaya to put Butler up 2-0 just 8:14 into the contest.

Alyssa Stewart scored the third goal of the half with a rebound off the leg of the Panther keeper poking it back into the net for her first goal of the season.

Rachel Wolecki scored the fourth and final goal of the game (her second of the season) at the 57:15 mark with a rocket shot from 30-yards outs.

The Grizzlies finished with 23 total shots and 13 shots on goal while holding the Panthers to zero. The Butler keeper only touched the ball one time throughout the entire game and cleared it quickly thereafter. Butler had 14 corners to the Panthers zero and Neosho finished with 16 fouls to the Grizzlies seven.

NEXT UP: Butler will head to Coffeyville on Monday, April 19 for a 7:00pm matchup with the Red Ravens. They return home on Wednesday, April 21 at 7:00pm for a showdown with Johnson County.
