Freshman Brooklyn Hunter makes NJCAA All-American team

Butler's freshman midfielder Brooklyn Hunter received NJCAA Div. I Women's Soccer second team All-American honors on Tuesday, after a season in which Hunter's Grizzlies won the Region VI title to advance to their second straight national tournament in Daytona, Florida.

Hunter, the daughter of Butler head coach Adam Hunter, finished her first year at Butler after playing at Circle High School in Towanda. She finished the season with five goals, 14 assists, and 24 points, including one game winning goal. She had the assist for Butler's second goal of the Region final against Cowley, a game that Butler would win on penalty kicks, and had three assists in one game in a 10-1 win against Garden City in September. She started in 23 of Butler's 24 games this season.

Hunter's 14 assists led the Jayhawk Conference and put her at 5th in the nation, and she was also 58th in the country in the nation in points, with 24. She finished the season with 72 shots which was good enough for 12th nationally.

Brooklyn is the 31st Butler player to receive NJCAA All-American honors, with the previous player being Sandra Thiman in 2019. Hunter was also recognized to the 2021 United Soccer Coaches Junior College Division I Women's All-America Team.
