Baseball Secures Series Win Over Hutchinson

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The Butler Grizzlies split a pair with the Hutchinson Blue Dragons at Hobart-Detter Field on Saturday afternoon.

With the split, Butler (13-10, 5-3) secured a 3-1 series win after sweeping the Blue Dragons (17-8, 5-3) on Thursday at McDonald Stadium.

The Grizzlies return to action on Tuesday vs. Neosho at McDonald Stadium at 1 p.m.,

Game 1: Butler 5, Hutchinson 4

The Grizzlies used two runs in both the fourth and fifth innings to help them to a 5-4 win.

Bradyn McClure (W, 2-2) started on the mound for Butler and picked up his second win of the season as he threw 5.1 innings allowing four runs on six hits, striking out five and walking none. Austoin Bagnall and Jack Haag combined for the final 1.2 innings holding Hutch scoreless. Haag earned his conference leading sixth save of the year, throwing the seventh.

Garrett Fager drove in two runs while Anibal Rivera and Taber Stokes each added two hits.

Hutchinson's Trenton Roehler (L, 3-1) was tagged with his first loss of the season after starting and throwing 4.1 innings, allowing five runs and scattering eight hits.

Game 2: Hutchinson 14, Butler 0

The Grizzly pitching staff and offense ran out of steam in the final game of the series as Hutchinson won 14-0.

Blue Dragon starter Bradley Neill (W, 3-0) threw all 7.0 innings for a complete game shutout. He allowed just one hit, striking out eight and walking none.

The lone hit for Butler came from freshman Taber Stokes.

Jeremy Bingesser (L, 1-2) was hit with the loss as he started and managed to throw just one inning, allowing five runs.

Five Blue Dragons finished with multi-hit games.
