Baseball Splits at Pratt

PRATT, Kan. – Butler baseball split a doubleheader with Pratt at Stanion Field on Thursday.

The Grizzlies (24-16, 13-5 KJCCC) led from start to finish with an impressive offensive performance in a 13-6 game one win before Pratt (18-25, 5-17) countered in game two winning 10-6.

The series will shift to McDonald Stadium on Saturday with a first pitch set for 1 p.m.

Game 1: Butler 13, Pratt 6

The Grizzlies used three runs in the second and five in the third on the way to a 13-6 game one win.

Jaron Brown, Anibal Rivera and Charlie Marcantel each finished with two hits as Brown also drove in a team-high tying three runs. Cole Murrell drove in three on a three-run home run. Murrell, Rivera and Marcantel all homered.

Caden Kickhaefer (W, 6-2) picked up the win tossing 5.2 innings allowing five runs on eight hits and striking out five. Kage Ralstin threw the final 1.1 innings allowing no hits or runs.

Pratt's Josh Doelitsch (L, 5-5) got the start and took the loss allowing six runs in 3.0 innings, walking six and striking out three. Tytin Goebel and Sung Hun Kim each tallied two hits to lead the Beavers.

Game 2: Pratt 10, Butler 6

Pratt took an 8-1 lead in the fourth inning of game two before the Grizzlies got as close as five at 8-3 and 10-5, ultimately losing 10-6.

Jack Laird (L, 1-2) got the start and suffered the loss for Butler allowing seven runs in 3.0 innings of work.

Pratt pounded out 14 hits in the game led by Ben Waliczek's and Drew Bugner's three hits each.

Butler was led by CJ Reid's two hits and three RBI including a two-run home run, his fourth of the season. Anibal Rivera and Charlie Marcantel each had two hits.

Butler center fielder Garrett Fager got the start for his first appearance in 17 games as he was previously out due to injury. He finished with two hits and scored two runs in the game.
