PRATT, Kan. – Butler baseball traveled to Pratt to wrap up the series with the Beavers on Sunday after winning two at McDonald Stadium on Thursday afternoon. The Grizzlies and Beavers split at Stanion Field on Sunday with the Beavers winning game one 1-0 and Butler taking game two 13-1.
Game one saw the Grizzlies waste an impressive pitching performance from starter Bradyn McClure (L, 1-2) who took a hard luck loss. McClure did not allow a hit across 6.0 innings, striking out eight and walking four. He was pulled in the seventh inning following a walk and the score tied 0-0. Jack Haag entered for McClure and the Beavers used a base hit a few batters later to walk it off snagging a 1-0 win. Butler outhit Pratt 6-1 in the game but the one run in the seventh inning was the difference.
Butler's offense came to life in game two as they had 13 runs on 12 hits winning 13-1 in a seven-inning run rule. Butler used four runs in the second and five runs in the fourth to jump out to a 10-1 lead. Four Grizzlies had multi-hit efforts and Whitley Rhodes (W, 1-0) and Kage Ralstin combines to allow just four hits and one run. Rhodes scattered three hits and a strikeout across 5.0 innings in his third start of the season and Ralstin threw the final 2.0 innings striking out two and allowing one hit.
