EL DORADO, Kan. – Butler baseball opened its conference series with Dodge City at McDonald Stadium on Friday taking game one 10-0 and falling in game two 15-8.
Butler (15-9, 7-3) held the Conqs (16-11, 2-8) scoreless in game one but allowed 15 runs in game two.
Freshman pitcher Shane Holman (W, 5-0) threw his second complete game of the season striking out five and walking none in 5.0 innings of work as the Grizzlies won 10-0 in a run rule. Butler used a six run fourth inning to seize control.
Dodge City flipped the script in game two winning 15-8 in nine innings. The Conqs scored four runs in back-to-back inning (sixth and seventh) to take a 12-6 lead. Caden Hinther (L, 1-2) took the loss allowing four earned runs in 5.0 innings. Butler used six total pitchers in the game. Dodge City's Cameron Stukenborg hit two home runs driving in five runs to lead the Conqs.
