Butler rolls McDougle in 77-14 non-conference win

The tenth ranked Butler Grizzlies bounced back following a loss last week in convincing fashion, rolling over McDougal Technical Institute in a 77-14 victory on Saturday afternoon at BG Products Veterans Sports Complex.

The Grizzlies scored 11 touchdowns in the game with nine different players finding the endzone. Three of those scores came from the Butler defensive side of the ball with pick sixes from Malik Berry and Ethan Stuhlsatz and a fumble recovery for a score by Wesley Bentley

Butler got ahead early and never looked back scoring there first quarter touchdowns to take a 21-0 lead over the Bison. They followed that up scoring 35 points in the second quarter led off by back-to-back pick sixes by Ethan Stuhlsatz and Malik Berry, just .14 seconds apart on the game clock. Butler took a 56-0 lead into the break and carried all the momentum.

It was a slower second half as the Grizzlies emptied the bench but they were still very effective against the Bison. Taylor Wilson found the endzone for the first time this season in the third quarter off a 2-yard run, the only Butler score in the third quarter. McDougle finally got on the board off a 52-yard pass from Nesbitt to Gill late in the third quarter. 

Taylor Wilson scored his second touchdown of the game off a 43-yard run where he blasted through the line of scrimmage and out ran everyone to the endzone to put Butler up 70-6 in the game. McDougle would score one more time in the contest off an 86-yard kickoff return by Cincere Gill. Antwone Parker would finish the day scoring off a 35-yard run with two minutes remaining to cap off the scoring as the Grizzlies won 77-14. 

Three different quarterbacks played for the Grizzlies in the game. Starter Jake Wolff finished 12-18 with 114 yards and a touchdown pass. He was replaced by Jacobi Myers who passed for 105 yards on five completions. Larned, KS native Dillan Smith also got some snaps and completed a pass on one attempt.

Antwone Parker led the Grizzlies on the ground with 10 carries for 71 yards and two touchdowns. Taylor Wilson got eight carries and had 64-yards and two scores also. The Grizzlies amassed 462 yards of total offense including 220 yards on the ground. Five different running backs found the end zone for the Grizzlies.

The depth at the wideout position was featured as well, as eight different players earned receptions. AJ King led Butler with eight receptions and 90 yards, scoring a touchdown. 

Butler held the Bison to 231 yards of offense and gave up almost nothing on the ground, holding McDougal to just 35 rushing yards. The Bison were held to 3.6 yards per play and threw four interceptions. Norman Massey, Demarcious Robinson and James Smith finished with quarterback sacks. 

Butler improves their record to 4-2 on the year with the non-conference win. It's another ranked matchup for Butler on Saturday as they host seventh ranked Iowa Central under the lights of BG Products Veterans Sports Complex at 7:00pm on October 15th.
