Murray Named KJCCC Offensive Player of the Week for 2nd Time This Season

COLBY, Kan. – For a second time this season, Butler starting quarterback Tanner Murray has been named the KJCCC Football Offensive Player of the Week.

Murray, a sophomore Houston, Texas, native, led the Grizzlies to a 45-10 road win over the No. 3-ranked team in the nation Iowa Central in Fort Dodge on Saturday.

He passed for a career-high 251 yards on 11-of-19 passing to go with two touchdowns and 41 yards rushing. Murray found eight different Grizzly pass catchers through the air.

The Grizzly offensive unit, led by Murray, rolled up 454 total yards of offense as the team earned their first win over a top-five opponent since 2019.

Murray previously won the award after Butler defeated Independence at home as he threw for 245 yards and two touchdowns. Other Grizzlies to have won KJCCC weekly awards this season are Russell Wilkey as Special Teams Player of the Week following the Highland win, Ashton Levells as Special Teams Player of the Week following the Indy win and Jaisean McMillian as Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the NEO win.

The No. 7-ranked Grizzlies host the No. 2-ranked Iowa Western Reivers on Saturday at 7 p.m. from BG Products Veterans Sports Complex.
